Ahrar bloc rejects law of Closed Slate for next Parlaimentary elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Ahrar bloc rejected adopting the law based on the Close Slate system for the next Parlaimentary elections.

The head of the bloc, Baha al-Araji, stated in a statement after a meeting between the Parliament Chairmanship and the heads of the political blocs on Tuesday “The important laws were discussed in the meeting,” noting that “We gave the priority for amending the elections law, law of criminating Baath Party, Justice and Accountability law and the Federal Court law.”

“Some blocs called to adopt the closed slate system in the next elections that we absolutely reject,” he added.

“We agreed upon forming committees to reach compromises over some important laws,” he continued, calling “To finish drafting the Oil and Gas law that must have a national tendency to free oil from the oil companies’ control.”
