Allawi: During my tenure as PM, not a single journalist or presenter – was killed

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi stressed “During my tenure as PM, not a single journalist or presenter …was killed.”

Allawi said in his personal (Facebook) page “During my tenure as PM, not a single journalist or presenter was killed where I established an independent national media network to promote freedom of media and produced a pension scheme for journalists and increased the media budget from $15 million USD to $125 million USD, employing hundreds more journalists and restoring their confidence.”

“Whereas now, media staff are being targeted, oppressed and even killed with Iraq ranking 150 on the press freedom index,” he added.
