Maliki meets with Algerian official

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, met with the Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Abdul Qader Bin Salih.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Maliki met Salih in Russia on the margins of the Second Forum of the Petroleum Exporting Countries where he called to from a moderate trend that is able to face extremism in the region.”

“The two sides have also discussed the mutual relations and the means of developing them in all field in addition to the oil and energy,” the statement added, noting that “The two sides have also discussed the Syrian crisis and the importance of conducting peaceful means to settle it.”

“Maliki assured the adherence of Iraq to continue meeting the Algerian officials and welcoming their visits to Iraq, calling to encourage moderation to face extremism in the region,” the statement pointed out.

“For his part, Salih expressed the readiness of Algeria to develop the bilateral relations with Iraq and increase the cooperation in addition to exchange the visits of the key officials,” the statement concluded.
