Khuzaiye expresses Iraq’s readiness to join UN’s support for Syrian children

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Vice-President, Khudhir al-Khuzaiye, expressed the readiness of Iraq to join the United Nations’ support for the Syrian children.

A statement by Khuzaiye’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Khuzaiye received a delegation from the UN that comprises Layla Zarooqi, the representative of the Secretary General of the Children and the Armed Clashes Affairs within the UN, George Boston, the Representative of the Secretary General of the UN to Iraq, Marziyo Babil, the representative of the UNSCO in addition to some officials of the UN, where they discussed the consequences of the violence on the children.”

“Khuzaiye reaffirmed the attitude of the state of Iraq over rejecting the violence and arming any of the conflicting sides in Syria because this would result in many victims,” the statement added, noting that “He called the international community to take its responsibility over this issue, expressing the readiness of Iraq to join the UN;s efforts to support the Syrian children.”

“For her part, Zarooqi assured that the stances of the UN and Iraq are identical regarding settling the Syrian crisis in a peaceful way, showing her concerns over exploiting the Syrian children in the armed clashes,” the statement concluded.
