FM Undersecretary, US official discuss political situation in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations, Near Khairallah discussed with the UN embassy charge d’affaire, Douglas Solomon, the political situation in Iraq and the region as well as the Syrian crisis.

A statement by the Ministry cited “The FM Undersecretary received the US embassy charge d’affaire, where they exchanged views over the political situation in Iraq, region and the Syrian crisis and its ramifications on the neighboring countries.”

“The FM Undersecretary pointed out that the democracy needs exceptional efforts, time and political consensus, but Iraq, despite all the challenges, is continuing to build its institutions and its democratic political regime.”

For his part, the US official stressed that “The US is doing its utmost to bring the different views closer especially between Iraq and the Gulf countries, expressing optimism on the current dialogue among the Iraqi political sides.”
