Demonstrations in Karbala on International Quds Day

Karbala (IraqiNews.com) The citizens of Karbala province demonstrated on the International Quds Day to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people on Friday.

IraqiNews.com reporter stated “Public demonstrations were launched in Karbala near the holy shrines in the old city,” noting that “The demonstrators expressed their condemnation for the Zionism and occupation and they called for sustaining the Islamic brotherhood and unity to liberate the suffering people.”

“A number of Non-Governmental Organizations and tribal sides as well as local officials participated in the demonstrations,” the reporter added.

For his part, the head of Karbala PC who participated in the demonstrations said “These demonstrations represent an initiative to notify the international community that the Palestinian crisis exceeded the logical frame.”

Quds Day, officially in Iran known as International Quds Day is an annual event that began in Iran in 1979, that is commemorated on the last Friday of Ramadan, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposing Zionism as well as Israel’s control of Jerusalem; Quds is that city’s Arabic name.

Quds Day rallies were first suggested by the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.
