Zebari, US official discuss strengthening strategic partnership, security cooperation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari arrived in the United States of America, heading a high level delegation on an official visit on last Tuesday.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by IraqiNews.com cited “Zebari is supposed to preside over the meetings of the fourth round of the Joint Political and Diplomatic Coordination Committee emanating from the Strategic Framework Agreement in addition to conducting a series of meetings with U.S. Administration officials and research and Information centers.”

“The Minister and his accompanying delegation met the Deputy National Security Adviser, Tony Blinken, and discussed with him bilateral relations, strengthening the strategic partnership, and security and political cooperation between the two countries,” the statement added.

“The two sides also discussed important political files, including security cooperation in the fight against terrorism and the latest developments in Syria and the efforts to hold the Geneva conference (2) to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria,” the statement concluded.
