UN: 7 thousand Syrian refugees arrived in Kurdistan Region

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The United Nations announced that about seven thousand Syrian refugees arrived in Kurdistan Region after the opening of Fishakhabur inlet by Kurdistan Region.

The UN stated in a press statement “Thousands of the Syrian refugees entered Kurdistan Region on last Thursday through a pontoon bridge that is recently constructed over Tigress river,” noting that “The first group of the refugees who went through the inlet comprised 750 refugee and the other groups will reach to 7 thousand ones.”

The spokesperson of the Refugees’ Organization within the UN stated in a press conference “Thousands of the Syrian refugees enter northern of Ira on last Thursday,” noting that “Most of them were women, children and old people from Halab, Hasaka and some other areas of Syria.”
