Salih, US Consul discuss regional updates

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) Barham Ahmed Salih, Deputy Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan received, Joseph Benenkton, the US Consul General in Kurdistan and, Seiji Shiratori, Head of the political and economic sections at the U.S. Consulate in Sulaimaniya on last Sunday.

A statement by the PUK received by IraqiNews.com “During the meeting, Dr. Salih, the U.S. consul discussed political situation in Iraq and in Kurdistan Region, and developments in the region, especially the events in Syria and Egypt.”

“Ongoing preparations to upcoming elections in Kurdistan Region and ways to develop bilateral ties between Kurdistan Region and the United States of America were another issue discussed in the meeting,” the statement concluded.
