Gang arrested south of Babel

Babel (IraqiNews.com) A joint force from the National Security Department and Babel Police Department conducted a storm in operation last Thursday night in Qasim district (40 km) to the south of Babel province.

Reliable source reported to IraqiNews.com “The force arrested, during the storm in operation, a gang specialized in smuggling ancient traces and antiquities outside Iraq,” noting that “The gang consists of four persons who have been monitored for a long time.”

“The force seized antiquities and forged passports in the possession of the members of the gang,” the source added, stressing that “The arrested criminals have been referred for investigation.”

It is to mention that the ancient sites in Babel province are subject for stealing by unidentified groups due to lack of security provided for ancient sites.
