Lebanon hands over stolen antiques to Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) The Lebanese Minister of Culture, Gabi Leon, delivered ancient Iraqi antiquities to the Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Raad al-Alosi, amid official Iraqi delegation attendance.

The Lebanese Minister of Culture assured ”The good brotherly relations between Baghdad and Beirut in the field of cooperation in exchanging antiques and the commitment to the international conventions.”

These Iraqi antiques were seized on the possession of an Iraqi person on 2012 and after and the Lebanese authorities issued a judicial resolution to keep the antiques under custody of the Lebanese General Director of Heritage, then, a delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture attended the Lebanese Directorate and confirmed that these antiques belong to Iraq.
