Iraq’s delegation meets with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden

The Vice-President of the Republic of Iraq, Khudair Al Khozai, and Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, met with the U.S. Vice President, Joseph Biden.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations including the emphasis on the importance of the exchange of visits at the level of senior officials, activating the strategic framework agreement between the two countries, and cooperation and coordination in the field of counterterrorism.”

“The two sides stressed the need to strengthen the democratic experiment in Iraq and the importance of the Parliament’s approval on the laws that contribute to the consolidation of the political process, particularly those related to energy, elections, and organizing of parties,” the statement added.

“Biden welcomed Iraq’s positions in strengthening relations with the neighboring countries, particularly the great development of relations with the State of Kuwait and addressing the problems between them in order to serve the interests of both countries and the region’s stability,” the statement concluded.
