Maliki justifies presence of barriers by security situation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki presented his apology for the citizens in Baghdad for the presence of the concrete barriers in most of Baghdad areas due to the current security situation.

Maliki mentioned in his speech at the inauguration of the Salhiya Bridge of central Baghdad on Saturday that “We apologize for the residents of Baghdad for the presence of the concrete barriers in the Iraqi Capital and assure for them that we do not like them but the security situation makes the presence of the blocks a must.”

He added “Reconstruction requires putting the political disputes aside and requires integrity and national unity in order to be able to invest our wealth in the perfect way and provide better life for our citizens.”
