Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, reviewed with some Polish figures the Iraqi initiatives to settling the ongoing Syrian crisis.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “The Polish Institute of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw hosted Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, in the presence of a large number of diplomats, academics, businessmen, journalists and representatives of the Iraqi community to deliver a lecture on Iraq’s role and vision towards the current regional conditions and challenges.”

“Zebari reviewed the developments in the political and security situation, the democratic process in the country, challenges Iraq faces in providing security and stability, the fight against terrorism and extremism, and achieving political participation and sustainable development,” the statement added, noting that “He also reviewed the international, Arab and regional diplomatic efforts to contain the growing Syrian crisis and achieve a political settlement to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people through the ongoing efforts to hold the Geneva conference 2.”

“He also talked about the Iraqi government’s initiatives in supporting peace efforts to stop the bloodshed and violence, reviewing the Iraqi position towards the talks aimed at finding a settlement to the Iranian nuclear file through negotiations to verify the peaceful and transparency of the program, and the peoples’ right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” the statement concluded.
