Iraq willing to establish positive relations with neighboring countries, says Maliki

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki assured Iraq wants to establish positive relations based on mutual respect, mutual interest and culture of non-interfering in the internal affairs, with all the world countries especially the neighboring countries during his meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, on Sunday.

A statement by Maliki’s media office received by IraqiNews.com cited “The Prime Minister received today morning, the Foreign Minister of Turkey Davutoglu, at his office in Baghdad.”

Maliki added “Iraq seeks to establish good relations that are based on mutual respect with all the world countries especially with the neighboring ones, noting “The region’s situation necessitates condensed cooperation in order to be taken as a solid base for cooperation throughout the region.”

Maliki welcomed the developments and positive steps happening in the Iraqi-Turkish bilateral relations, according to the statement.

For his part, Davutoglu highlighted the necessity of the coordination between both countries, calling to activate the mutual committees in preparing for the expected visit of the Iraqi PM to Turkey.
