Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan to meet Kurdistan Region President Barzani next Saturday

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan is expected to meet Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani this weekend in the southeastern province of Diyarbakar.

The Turkish Daily News Agency reported “According to Prime Ministry sources, Erdogan will head to Diyarbakir on Nov. 16 to attend several ceremonies and meet Barzani. The prime minister will continue talks on Nov. 17.”

“Late last month, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani held talks with senior Turkish officials, including Erdogan in Istanbul,” the statement added, noting that “During his visit, both sides agreed on the fundamentals of a comprehensive package of deals with Turkey to build multi-billion dollar oil and gas pipelines to ship the region’s rich hydrocarbon reserves to world markets, sources involved in the talks said, Reuters reported.” “The deals could see the Kurdistan Region export some 2 million barrels per day of oil to world markets and at least 10 billion cubic meters per year of gas to Turkey,” the statement concluded.
