Maliki denounces Beirut explosion

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki denounced the terrorist explosions that targeted the Southern Dhahiya of the Lebanese Capital, Beirut on Tuesday.

A statement by the Prime Minister’s office received by IraqiNews.com quoted Maliki as saying “We denounce the terrorist explosion that targeted the Iranian Embassy in Beirut on Tuesday which killed and injured dozens of civilians.”

Maliki added “This crime targets the security and stability of Lebanon rather than targeting the diplomatic missions,” noting that “We urge the Lebanese People for more unity and solidarity and avoid these activities which aim at arousing sectarianism.”

The Iraqi Prime Minister called all the countries of the World to face and eliminate the terrorism and to punish all sides that support it.

More than 23 persons, among them the cultural advisor at the Iranian Embassy, Ibrahim al-Ansari, and 146 were injured due to two terrorist explosions that took place near the Iranian Embassy in Janah area of southern the Lebanese Capital, Beirut.
