Shahristani, UN SGSR discuss political developments

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Premier for energy affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani, hosted the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq , Nikolay Mladenov, at his office in Baghdad on Thursday.The media office of Shahristani reported in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The two sides reviewed the latest political updates on the regional arena and the Syrian crisis as well as the last agreement that occurred between the (5+1) group and Iran concerning its nuclear file.””Shahristani called the UN to take its role to push forward the Geneva 2 Conference in terms of Syrian file where Shahristani praised the efforts exerted by the Arab League’s representative, al-Akhdher al-Ibrahemi due to his wide experiences in this field,” the statement added.”Mladenov praised Shahristani efforts within the committee, which was formed to consider the protestors demands, through investigating the arrest operations and the release of detainees from detention at the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Justice,” the statement concluded. \END\
