Zebari, Afghani Defense Minister democratic transmission, combating terrorism

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, and the Afghani Defense Minister discussed the democratic transmission and combating terrorism.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “Defense minister in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Bismellah Mohammadi received in the headquarters of the Ministry Zebari and his accompanying delegation.”

“They discussed during the meeting Iraq – Afghan relations and experience of the two countries in the process of democratic transition and the fight against terrorism and the dealing with neighboring countries, as well as consultation and exchange of views on the security agreement and military cooperation between the two countries and the United States in accordance with the principles of national sovereignty and interests,” the statement added.

“They also reviewed the process of building Iraqi armed forces in the areas of preparation and qualification, training and armament and procedures associated with the political process and the importance of security to achieve reconciliation and participation to defeat terrorism,” the statement pointed out.

The statement concluded “The meeting was attended by a number of army generals and senior adviser to the Afghan minister of defense.”
