Iran condemns bombings targeted Christians in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, Marzieh Afkham, condemned the terrorist attack on a Church in Baghdad which resulted in death and injury of several Christian citizens on the Christmas Eve.

Marzieh Afkham condemned the terrorist attack on Baghdad’s Mary Yuhanna Church on Wednesday. “This terrorist act shows the necessity for collective and international cooperation for confronting the evil phenomenon of terrorism and extremism,” she said. Afkham said that attacking the church and the people attending the ceremonies marking the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ is the alarm that the phenomenon of terrorism will not be limited to the geographical and religious boundaries. A number of citizens were killed in bomb attacks in Christian areas of Baghdad, including a car bomb that exploded near a church after a Christmas service, police and medics said. A bomb in a parked car went off on last Wednesday while worshippers were leaving a church in the Dora district of southern Baghdad after finishing prayers, police sources said. The bombing resulted in killing and injuring a number of citizens, most of the victims were Christian.
