Hakim, Maliki discuss political updates, military operations in Anbar

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, and the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, discussed the political updates and the current military operation in Anbar province.

A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com cited “Hakim met the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, at the latter’s office where they discussed the political updates and the current military operations in Anbar,” noting that “Hakim stressed supporting the Iraqi Army forces in their battle against the terrorist organizations.”

“Hakim emphasized backing these operations against terrorism through national political dialogue,” the statement added.

“Hakim emphasized the necessity of conducting the elections on time because it represents the basis of democracy,” the statement concluded.
