Urgent – Maliki threatens to cut Kurdistan Region budget

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki threatened to reduce the finance offered by the Federal Government to Kurdistan Region if it exported oil to Turkey without getting the consent from the Federal Government.

Maliki reported in s press statement on Sunday ”Exporting oil from Kurdistan Region to Turkey in a constitutional violation that we will never allow neither for Kurdistan Region nor for Turkey.”

The Kurdistan Regional Government announced on last Thursday that it will start exporting a million barrel of crude oil to Turkey through Ceyhan oil pipeline at the end of January.

The Ministry of Oil described the announcement of the Kurdistan Region as a clear violation for Iraqi Constitution and threaten to punish the officials responsible for this act which described by ” smuggling process”.
