Kurdistan Region has the right to refine – sell its own oil – Change MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Latif Mustafa of the Kurdish Change bloc stated that according to the constitution, the refining and selling process of the oil is within the authorities of Kurdistan Region and the provinces.

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, he said “The refining and selling of the oil is exclusively within the authorities of Kurdistan Region and the provinces.”

“Article 111 of the constitution states that oil and gas belong to the Iraqi people where it assured that the current oil fields are run by the central government and Kurdistan Region and they share their incomes, but it did not refer to the future oil fields and this allows Kurdistan Region to deal with them and consider them as its own fields,” he concluded.
