Urgent – Lavrov: Iraq requests special weapons for combating terrorism

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, pointed out on Thursday “Iraq submitted a request to Russia to supply Iraq with special weapons for combating terrorism.”

Lavrov said in joint press conference with the Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zibari “The supplies of weapons used for confronting terrorism are never delayed, especially when Iraq has requested to speed up these supplies,” noting that “Russia will study these requests and attempt to supply these weapons as soon as possible.”

Lavrov has arrived in Baghdad on Thursday and met the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki as well as the Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister Hoshyar Zibari.
