Shahristani informs EU conducting elections on time

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Premier for Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani, hosted the director of Middle East Directorate for Foreign and European Service, Christian Berger, and his accompanying delegation in addition to the Ambassador of European Union to Iraq, Yana Hapaschkova, at his office in Baghdad on Wednesday.Shahristani’s media office reported in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The meeting touched on promoting the bilateral relations on all levels and the preparations of the Independent High Electoral Commission to conduct the upcoming elections as well as the logistic support of European Union to the process of parliamentary elections in Iraq.””Shahristani assured that the IHEC accomplished all the preparations to conduct the elections on time and there is any intention to delay the elections,” the statement added.Shahristani emphasized that ”The Iraqi Government developed the security plans to provide protection during the ballot operation in order to preserve the security of the voters during the elections,” the statement concluded. \END\
