US Consul meets Dhi-Qar PC Chairman, other local officials

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The US Consul General Matthias Mitman visited Dhi-Qar province – the first visit of a Consulate General official to Dhi-Qar since the Consulate General was established.

A statement by the US Embassy received by Iraqi News cited “The visit effectively “broke the ice” with Dhi-Qar and sets the stage for a much more active relationship between the Consulate General and Dhi-Qar.

“The CG met with the Dhi-Qar Governor, Provincial Council Chairman, Investment Commission Chair, president of the Dhi-Qar Chamber of Commerce, and business representatives. Consul General Mitman emphasized the potential in the province for investment by US businesses and opportunities to build on existing exchange programs,” the statement added.

“Consul General Mitman also toured the ancient city of Ur and climbed to the top of the famous ziggurat,” the statement concluded.
