Iraq confirms its commitment to treaties over non-proliferation of mass destruction weapons

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq’s Permanent Representative to the Security Council, Ambassador Mohammed Ali Al Hakim, delivered on May 7, 2014 Iraq’s statement before the Security Council on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, entitled “Celebrating the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Security Council Committee 1540 in 2004 : going forward.”

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Iraqi News cited “The statement emphasized Iraq’s respect and commitment to international treaties and conventions relevant to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The Ambassador pointed to the efforts, activities, and measures undertaken by Iraq in the implementation of this resolution.”

“Iraq provided the United Nations with four national reports for the years 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2013, a thing that shows the great interest Iraq is paying to the resolution 1540,” the statement concluded.
