Obama extends national emergency situation related to Iraq

Follow-up (IraqiNews.com) The American President Barack Obama approved an extension for the National Emergency Situation related to the deteriorated security situation in Iraq for another year.

The first resolution related to this emergency case was signed by the former US President George Bush Junior on May 22, 2003.

The US President Obama said in letter to the US Congress that the aim of extending the national emergency case related to the atmosphere in Iraq is “dealing with the threats that face the US National Security and foreign policy represented by hurdles that face rebuilding and stabilizing Iraq and building capacities of the Iraqi Government.”

He explained that “These threats and hurdles have not changed which forces the US Administration to extend the national emergency case related to Iraq.”
