Shahristani: Baiji Oil Refinery controlled by ISF

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussein al-Shahristani assured that “Beiji oil refinery is under the control of the Iraqi Security Forces,” denying the reports that ISIL terrorists control Iraq’s largest refinery.

A statement by Shahristani’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “We would like to clarify for the public opinion that the reports over control of the ISIL gangs on Baiji refinery are groundless since many of them have been killed by the ISF while they were trying to approach the boundaries of the refinery,” noting that “Military supplies and support have been sent to the ISF defending the refinery.”
