Kurdistan: We seized the Kirkuk oil fields to thwart sabotage by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil

aaKirkuk (IraqiNews.com) On Friday, According to a great source of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, the Kurdish forces imposed full control over the oil fields of Kirkuk because of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil’s attempts to sabotage them.

The agency “Reuters” quoted the source as saying, “the Kurdistan Regional Government was forced to move to protect the infrastructure of the Iraqi After knowing the attempts of the Iraqi Oil Ministry officials to sabotage these fields”.

The source added the “From now on these fields will be subjected to the control of the Kurdistan Regional Government and we expect to begin operations soon,” adding that “members of the Oil Protection Force of the Government controlled them on Friday.”

The source pointed out that “the Iraqi Oil Ministry had planned to sabotage the new pipeline under construction that connects the three major oil fields in Kirkuk, including two fields which were previously run by the North Oil Company, affiliated to the central government.”

The ministry appealed to the “wise men from the Kurds about the necessity to understand the seriousness of the situation and to instruct those people responsible for this uncontrolled action to withdraw the armed force from these oilfields and evacuate immediately to avoid serious consequences,” according to a statement.
