Erbil (IraqiNews.com) On Friday, a Kurdish political source revealed that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) excluded the candidates for the post of President of the Republic, “Ibrarhim Saleh and Najem Eddin Karim” of the competition for the position, while noting to put the names of the leaders of the Union, Fuad Maasum and Adnan Mufti, to compete.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com “the official body operating in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by Jalal Talabani delivered the name of the party’s candidate for the post of President of the Republic, on Wednesday night, to the President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added that “the agreement got into a meeting of the political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), yesterday, to exclude Ibrarhim Saleh and Najem Eddin Karim of the competition for the post of President of the republic because of the disagreements, while suggesting other names to compete”.
