AP Poll: 80% of Americans do not expect the formation of a stable government in Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, a survey conducted by Associated Press said that three out of every four Americans believe that history will judge the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as ‘failure’.

The same percentage believes that the decision to withdraw U.S. troops from the two countries was a ‘right decision’, pointing out that 80% of Americans ‘are not optimistic of the formation of a stable democratic government’ in Iraq.

The survey added that the Americans who were polled in this research are not optimistic about the opportunities of the formation of stable democratic governments in both countries.

The survey pointed out that three out of every four American believe that both of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are an absolute failure, or they are a failure more than a success.’

The poll indicated that 70% of Americans believe that the United States was right to withdraw its troops from Iraq in 2011 in addition to its willingness to withdraw most U.S. troops from Afghanistan by December of next month.

It is noteworthy that the United States has spent more than a decade in the two countries trying to form democratic governments which are able to manage things effectively on its territory, but these goals exposed to the risks now in both countries, where the future of these governments is threatened by accumulated factors, including the meager administration, weak institutions, internal feuds a, the loss of security and the spread of the insurgency and terrorism.
