UN: Iraq exports the 2nd highest number of refugees in the world

(IraqiNews.com) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that Iraq occupied the second place in the list of exporting refuges to countries in the world.

According to the report of the regional office of the UNHCR in Baghdad, “the number of Iraqi refugees registered with UNHCR amounted to one million and 400 thousand refugees”.

The deputy of Alwasat coalition, Walid al-Mohammadi, described this news from the UNHCR as it is unfortunate matter which reflects the deteriorating conditions in the country.

Mohammadi called the Iraqi government to “activate plans and procedures in order to get rid of the social ills that have plagued Iraq.”

He emphasized that “the political blocs in Iraq must urgently work to build solutions to their differences and correct the political process to improve the conditions of citizens.”
