Maliki warned any violation to constitution would open "gates of hell"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Wednesday rejected unconstitutional measures in selecting the next prime minister, and warned that any violation to the constitution would open the “gates of hell” in the country.

“We are determined to adhere to the constitutional entitlement in designating the candidate of the largest parliamentary political bloc, and reject that the process be held out of the constitutional contests,” Maliki said during his televised weekly speech.

Maliki concluded “violation of the constitutional context would open the gates of hell in Iraq because it confiscates the will of the voters and the political democratic process, as well as opening massive holes for external intervention.”
