Merkel expresses Germany’s readiness to help Kurdistan Region in combating terrorism

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday held telephone talks with, Massoud Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said in a statement reviewed by IraqiNews.com.

Merkel confirmed the German government is willing to help in tackling the challenges ahead, according to the statement.

During her phone talk with Barzani, Merkel thanked him for the decisive actions in the fight against the ISIL as well as the protection that his regional government has granted to refugees of various minority groups.

In addition, the chancellor informed Barzani of Germany’s aid to the crisis-affected northern Iraqi regions, adding that her government would continue to offer help to people in need./End/
