NATO considers international alliance to confront ISIS

(IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, NATO leaders held a summit in Wales, UK to discuss the threats posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, and the possibility of establishing an international alliance to confront this danger at a time when the United States has predicted a long war with the organization.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Olund and Italian Prime Minister Mateo Rinci participated in the summit. Meetings will be held on the sidelines of the summit to discuss the formation of a coalition to deal with the Islamic State in response to an invitation by the United States.

On Thursday, the Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen said “ I am confident that NATO would consider seriously any request for assistance forward by the Government of Iraq to counter the terrorist gangs ISIS.
