URGENT: Iran confirms Supreme Leader Khamenei has cancer

(IraqiNews.com) For the first time, Iran’s official news agencies have confirmed that the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has cancer. “Khamenei underwent a successful prostate cancer operation yesterday in one of Tehran’s hospitals” according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA (Islamic Republic News Agency).

IRNA quoted Khamenei before his surgery as saying “there is no need to worry; it is an ordinary and simple surgery.”

The official Iranian news agency FARS added that Khamenei said after his emphasis on the simplicity of the operation: “This certainly does not mean I do not need the prayers of the people, but God willing, there is no need to worry.”

The official website of the Iranian Supreme confirmed this news and published an archival image of Khamenei, speaking and standing in front of the microphone.
