US warns from attacking western interests by terrorism

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com)- TheUnited States on Friday warned of “increased likelihood” of attacks on Western interests by terrorist groups to avenge the ongoing Washington-led airstrikes on the Islamic State inIraq andSyria.

The State Department issued an updated caution as the extremist group, also known as ISIL, had called on supporters to attack citizens of countries being involved in the air raids “wherever they are.”

“Authorities believe there is an increased likelihood of reprisal attacks against U.S., Western and coalition partner interests throughout the world, especially in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Asia,” the agency said in its notice.

“Kidnappings and hostage events involving U.S. citizens have become increasingly prevalent as ISIL,al-Qaida and its affiliates have increased attempts to finance their operations through kidnapping for ransom operations,” the notice said.

It said the likelihood of a terror attack in Europe “is increased” as European citizens who fought for the Islamic State return from Syria and Iraq and individuals inspired by terror groups are planning attacks.

“Credible information indicates terrorist groups also seek to continue attacks against U.S. interests in the Middle East and North Africa,” the notice added. /End/
