Abadi hope US to fulfill its promise in arming Iraqi Army

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Prime Minister, Dr. Haider al-Abadi, received on Tuesday the US deputy national security adviser Tony Pellnkn and the delegation accompanying him.

A statement by the Abadi’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “They discussed, during the meeting, the international efforts to help Iraq in its war against the ISIL organization in addition to the security cooperation between Iraq and the United States.”

The statement continued “Dr. Abadi said that the ISIL forms a threat to Iraq and the region and the world, and the international community must be serious in the fight against this terrorist organization.”

“He confirmed that the Iraqi security forces are defending the land of Iraq and achieved many victories and all should support them,” the statement stressed.

“The Prime Minister expressed hope that the United States fulfill its promise of arming the Iraqi army as soon as possible,” the statement added, noting “Our security forces are fighting a war of existence and survival against the ISIL criminal gangs.”

“For his part, Pellnkn expressed his country’s support for the Iraqi government’s efforts in the fight against terrorist organizations,” the statement concluded. /End/
