URGENT: Photos of an army helicopter wreckage, Iraqi gov. claims it landed safely
Salahuddin (IraqiNew.com) Local residents of Salahuddin province in Baghdad published photos of the wreckage of a helicopter thought to have been under fire by insurgents, while the Defense Ministry claimed that the plane landed safely.
The statement to the Iraqi Defense Ministry confirms that one of the Army Aviation helicopters landed safely after facing a technical malfunction in Salahuddin.
Users of social networking websites published photographs showing a helicopter belonging to the Iraqi army crushed completely, but the validity of the published photos was yet to be confirmed.
A news reporter in Salahuddin said that “the local residents of the province witnessed some gunmen opening fire on a helicopter belonging to the Iraqi army near the town of Dour, 15 km south of Tikrit; an area controlled by the ISIS group.”
