U.S. President seeks new authorization from Congress for war on ISIS
Washington, DC, USA (IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, U.S. President Barack Obama announced that he would seek another authorization from Congress for the military operation against the ISIS group.
U.S. President said, “The world needs to know we are united behind this effort and that the men and women of our military deserve our clear and unified support.”
Washington has declared that until now, the U.S Army is carrying out the military campaign in Iraq and Syria based on two existing authorizations from the Congress which were passed after the 9/11 attacks, and another law sought by former President George Bush for the war on Iraq.
“We now have a different type of enemy. The idea is to right-size and update whatever authorization Congress provides to suit the current fight rather than previous fights,” said Obama.
