Over 700 Peshmerga killed, 3,564 wounded since June
Kurdistan (IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, a statement released by Kurdistan’s paramilitary group, known as Peshmerga, said more than 700 members of the Kurdish force had been killed in the past six months.
Since ISIS offensive started in northern Iraq on June 10, Kurdish officials say that they have lost at least 727 members of the Kurdish regular force, known as Peshmerga, and have reportedly 3,564 wounded fighters.
The statement said, “Peshmerga forces have succeeded in pushing ISIS away from several Kurdistan regions and in transitioning from a defensive to an offensive phase.”
Noteworthy, the Peshmerga forces have also been involved in fierce battles to retake the Mosul Dam, Iraq’s most important dam and the fourth largest dam in the Middle East.
