(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry called the Congress to approve the war declared by President Barack Obama on the ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria, a formal legal action that the administration eventually can condone.

During the hearing of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Senate, Kerry called the Congress to vote on allowing the use of military force.

In accordance to US Constitution, the decision to declare war is an exclusive prerogative of the Congress.

Kerry hinted that the administration will not stop at this procedure, saying that “the government will continue its military operations even if the Congress refused to issue the approval.”
