(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, British Secretary of Defense Michael Fallon announced, Britain will deploy hundreds of troops to Iraq in order to train Iraqi and Kurdish forces battling the ISIS group militants.

“Hundreds of British troops will be sent to Iraq in the New Year,” Fallon has said.

The Ministry of Defense announced, that the deployment will be of trainer troops to support a few dozens of military advisors working there, but it would also include a small number of combat soldiers for protection, adding also that no decisions on troop numbers, units or locations have been made yet.

Fallon said, “They are increasingly tucked away in towns and villages. That means they have got to be rooted out by ground troops….This has to be done by an own-grown army, not by western groups.”
