Curfew imposed for two days in Balad district

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, Security Committee in the district of Balad (south of Tikrit) decided to impose a curfew and stop the official working for two days because of the fall of dozens of mortar shells on civilians.

A local source in the district said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The Security Committee in Balad (80 km south of Tikrit) decided to impose a curfew and cease the official working for all governmental departments, schools and to close all shops starting from today and for 48 hours.”

The source, who asked not to be named, said, “This decision came as a result of the fall of dozens of mortar shells on civilians in the district.”

A security source in Salahuddin province said on Saturday that the security forces liberated Aziz Balad area and the surroundings villages, south of Tikrit, as well as a number of areas on the outskirts of the district.
