(IraqiNews.com) A Spanish soldier, serving in southern Lebanon, was killed as the IDF after a missile attack by Hezbollah in Lebanon, an IDF official and the UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti said Wednesday.

The Spanish peacekeeper, serving with the U.N. force in southern Lebanon, was killed as the Israeli military responded with air strikes and artillery fire after a missile attack by Hezbollah from a territory in southern Lebanon.

“I can confirm that a Spanish soldier was killed in southern Lebanon,” Tenenti said.

The U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon has been deployed in southern Lebanon since 1978.
