US Ambassador, officials visit displaced citizens in Erbil

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Stuart Jones, accompanied by the Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Deputy Assistant Secretary Kelly Clements, and USAID’s Acting Assistant Administrator Tom Staal, visited Erbil to learn about the situation of displaced people in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and the humanitarian response.

A statement by the US Embassy in Baghdad received by IraqiNews.com cited “They met with the governor of Erbil, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ministers of interior and planning, Archbishop Bashar Warda of the Chaldean Church, and with NGO partners and UN officials.”

“They also visited displaced people in their shelters at the Harshm IDP center and the Ankawa Youth Sports Center in Erbil,” the statement concluded.
