Dispute between Republicans and Democrats on Obama’s proposal to use force against ISIS
(IraqiNews.com) A dispute was spurred in the US House of Representatives when the Republicans announced that the Congress would seek to grant president Barack Obama a mandate to use military force to fight ISIS in Iraq, while the Democrats refused to adopt the project.
The head of the US House of Representatives John Boehner said in a press conference followed by IraqiNews.com, that his Republican colleagues wanted to grant US commanders the necessary power to defeat the ISIS group wherever it was found.
Boehner added that wining that battle would require a solid strategy and the authority of two powers to grant the necessary flexibility to the leaders to defeat the enemy.
For her part, the Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi ruled out the adoption of the mandate, claiming it would be difficult for the Republicans and the Democrats to reach a consensus on the plan in light of the differences on the restrictions in Obama’s proposal.
An assistant in the US Congress announced on Wednesday (February 11, 2015) that president Barack Obama had sent a request for an authorization to use military force in the campaign against ISIS.
