Letter on distribution of salaries every 40 days is wrong, says Premiership

(IraqiNews.com) An official source in the Prime Ministry announced, Tuesday that the letter on distributing the employees’ salaries every 40 days is “wrong,” adding that it does not represent the Cabinet’s decision.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The letter being circulated by the media about the distribution of salaries every 40 days is wrong.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added: “The document does not represent the Council of Ministers’ decision.

Spokesman for the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s office said on Tuesday that the delay of salaries for ten days is a precautionary measure that will not be applied unless absolutely necessary, pointing out that it will not be applied on a regular basis.

The Parliamentary Finance Committee member Masood Haider announced Tuesday, that an official letter was issued by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers includes a decision to distribute employees’ salaries every 40 days, indicating that the Council of Ministers will discuss this decision in its next meeting.

Head of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government Nechirvan Barzani revealed on Monday (February 16, 2015) the central government’s intention to distribute its employees’ salaries every 40 days, and attributed this to the economic crisis experienced by the country.
