Air strikes directly affected ISIS, plans for Nineveh battle ready, says Obeidi
(IraqiNews.com) Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi announced Thursday, that the air strikes on Tikrit had a direct impact on the ISIS group, pointing out that liberating Tikrit is the first step toward moving to the north and the west, stating that the plans for Nineveh battle are ready.
Obeidi said at a press conference during his visit to Rustumiya Base attended by IraqiNews.com, “The methods of dealing with the international coalition and addressing our targets came at the request of commanders on the ground. When the leader arrives to a conviction that there is a need for the intervention of the international coalition, he seeks the support of the coalition.”
Obeidi added, “The ground troops are led by the Iraqi army,” noting that, “There is only one commander to deal with joint operations and the international coalition.”
He continued that, “Air strikes with very large numbers were performed last night and are continued today,” adding that, “The strikes had a direct impact on terrorist groups.”
